Pharmacy Tech Day

Pharmacy Technician Day was first endorsed by the Pharmacy Technician Educators Association, American Association of Pharmacy Technicians, Inc. – AAPT and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) in 2015. Each year, the third Tuesday of October is also proclaimed by CAPT as National Pharmacy Technician Day.

CAPT is happy to participate and create National Pharmacy Technician Day resources to acknowledge the hard work that pharmacy technicians do. We also have resources outlining the scope of work for pharmacy technicians to educate the public and other healthcare professionals about the value and work they complete daily.

Pharmacy technicians, among all other healthcare professionals, deserve more recognition for being on the frontlines in a pandemic, especially after a long year of dealing with COVID-19 firsthand. They continued to work for their patients' safety and well-being, delivering quality healthcare services, often adapting to the numerous changes during a crisis. Don't forget to thank a pharmacy technician for their hard work, especially on National Pharmacy Technician Day.

Here are a few ways you can take part in the celebrations:

  1. Get social – use #RxTechDay on all your social media posts
  2. Download / share our graphics and posters on social media or print them to post in your pharmacy
  3. Educate the public on the role a pharmacy technician plays within the healthcare team and how their role differs from pharmacy assistants and pharmacists
  4. Join and support pharmacy technician associations as they continue to advocate for technicians and the profession.
