The Rotary Clubs of Festival City Stratford and Chapala Mexico have a cooperative project of a medical team to provide much-needed care to the mostly indigenous peoples in the villages around Lake Chapala. Chapala is south of Guadalajara, has perfect weather, and a very safe area as witnessed by the 14,000 ex-pat Canadians and Americans who live there 6 to 12 months of the year.

We will give health and hygiene teaching, fluoride dental treatments for the children ages 5 to 14, provide reading glasses to those with close vision deficit, assessments, and treatments of musculoskeletal problems by a physiotherapist, medical assessments by Nurses and Physicians, lab tests of urinalysis, pregnancy tests, blood sugar, and pulse oximetry and full pharmacy support.

The team is in need of a pharmacist and pharmacy technician or assistant to complete the team and fill the very important role of dispensing and a treatment resource for the team.

The dates are January 8 to 18, and the all-inclusive cost of the mission work is $1600.00 with a full tax receipt. We will stay at the lovely Monte Carlo Hotel on Lake Chapala, and travel together to all clinics in buses. We will have a few days off to explore this beautiful area, making it a true vacation. But the best part is actually serving those in need of our skills and expertise.

Timing is short and please contact seasoned team leader Jean Aitcheson RN jkhsn@quadro.net or 519-393-5394 immediately for more information. This is your opportunity to fulfill that ‘someday’.
